After living the good life in Napa, we had a transition day to travel through Sonoma, down the coast and into San Francisco.
Artesa Vineyards. If you go, I highly suggesting grabbing a glass of vino and sitting on the patio to enjoy this view. |
We grabbed lunch at The Girl and the Fig (delish), and made our way over to Petaluma. It's pretty difficult for me to get wine-d out, but not everyone has an affection for fermented grapes like me, so we moved on to beer.
Petaluma is home to Lagunita's Brewery, one of my favorite IPAs. Still in the tasting mood, I opted for the flight and of course chose the Lucky 13 Seasonal Release.
I had such high hopes for our drive down the coast. I remembered how beautiful it is and fun scenic overlooks... however when we arrived (after miles of long curvy roads), this was the view. Fog city.
Moving on down the coast, we stopped for a view of the Golden Gate... it's back there. I promise.
Our drive was not a total wash. As we drove through Sausalito, and made a wrong turn towards the bay, we ran into this guy.

"For no particular reason, I just kept on going. I ran clear to the ocean. And when I got there, I figured since I'd gone this far, I might as well turn around and keep on going."
The following day, we woke up early for a walking tour around the city.

You know what I forgot to mark on my calendar this year? World Naked Bike Ride Day. So you can imagine my confusion and surprise when walking down The Embarcadero we ran into these guys.
We walked more around the city, stopping for dim sum and cocktails. We checked out of our hotel, drove down Lombard Street and stopped back by the Golden Gate to see if we could get some shots.
We then drove down to San Bruno for dinner and drinks. And this happened. I've never had long hair, so I had no idea there are so many party tricks you can do.

Overall, I would say the Chilhowee in Cali trip was a success. We had lots of fun times and toasted ourselves multiple times. And you wanna know the best part... we aren't even finished celebrating. Next week, I'll get to catch up with Tiff and Drew (and maybe Dave) at Truman Lake for the 4th of July and the week after my birthday, I get to get together with most of these guys again for our annual float trip
Summer 2013 seems to be promising. Shoo-bit-a-ba-ba-bow.
Great trip. I forgot about my hair trick too. Great things happen when you are hanging with people you've known your whole life.
